What Makes a House Feel Like a Home?

Rightly said- “A house is made of bricks and beams. A home is made of hopes and dreams.”

It is true a house is made up of walls and beams, and a home is made of love and a family warmth.

The difference between house and home is the difference between soul and body. As both soul and body together make life alive, in the same manner, a house becomes home with the love of family members. But oftentimes we observe our well-being not to be at the highest charm while inside the home.

I am sure even you must have experienced this at least once in your life. Maybe your close ones passed and left you in a situation where your home feels vacant because of their absence ultimately making you unhappy. Of course, your neighbors play a huge role in maintaining or destroying the happy environment of a person’s home. Whatever may be the reason, there's no doubt we've all given thought to the four walls of our homes, whether they have become a safe haven or, for some others, a confinement like prison.

The non-happening events in our lives are something that we do not hold control over. On the other hand, other than such circumstances, if you cannot have that cherishing relaxation at home, the problem lies somewhere else.

So today, in this article, we shall discuss some key points on how to establish an always happy environment at home. But, first, let us discuss some qualities of a happy home to understand better what exactly misses out to be a happy home.

1) Relish in home life:

Almost 90% of those most satisfied with their homes say their home always or often makes them feel relaxed. Researchers have found that among the spaces that can offer us the chance to switch off, the living room and bedroom were found to be the most important. Instead, purely aesthetically, we can enhance relaxation at home by considering lighting, decoration, and furniture in a more functional way.

2)  Security.

Having a safe shelter is a key component of happiness at home. We all love our home because it provides us with safety, shelter, and stability.

3) Nourishment.

Interestingly enough, what we see through our windows has a tremendous impact on us. A happier life is more likely to be predicted by our satisfaction with our views outside than by our satisfaction with daylight levels.

If you have reached here, I believe you would want to hear more on how to maintain a healthy and happy environment at home. Waking up in an environment that makes you feel happy and positive and returning to a similar one at the end of a hard day’s work is surely quite inspirational. The good news is that by introducing a few minor changes to your everyday lifestyle, you can easily achieve this objective.  So, let us talk about some tips to add a bright spark of sunshine to your life:

  1. Maintain your home's cleanliness.

When you wake up, make your bed, and return things to their original places after using them. Always know that it is a bad idea to leave things lying around just because you're too lazy to pick them up.

  2. Establish a welcoming atmosphere.

It's hard to describe what it's like to walk into a room and immediately feel comfortable and relaxed. If you think we are talking about turning your living space more inviting. It’s not just for guests - whenever you leave your home, make sure you come home to the same soothing and relaxing homely environment after a tiring day.

  3. Embrace happy memories.

What makes you happy?

The good memories that you had spent, right?

In truth, “Life is too short to harbor any hostilities. So, be surrounded by memories that bring you joy. Always avoid anyone or anything that brings you down.

  1. Bring nature into your home:

Nature is the perfect addition to your home. There are many benefits of adding indoor plants. They enhance a space's overall appearance, as well as help, reduce stress and eliminate air pollutants-giving you a healthier, happier life.
