Do you know what the average salary of a real estate agent is?

A lot of people see these TV shows and rally shows and think that being a real estate agent is easy and we're getting paid big bucks but I want to bring some perspective to that and give you a reality check on it. Some of them are getting paid, some of them are making six figures but some of those that are just starting now are really struggling. Not to discourage you but I just want to give you a perspective of how it is to be a real estate agent in your first year.

First off, let's talk about stats. Do you know that 87% of realtors quit within their first year? 87% and that number continues going up year after year! So in year two, it's at 90%. If you can make it past your second year, you're going to be good at being a real estate agent.  With that being said, how much does the average real estate agent make in their first year? According to the Bureau of Labor stats, the average real estate agent makes $42,000/year - it's not really that much money so you have to take it in perspective. A real estate agent or realtor is working for free until they close a deal. If that deal does not close, they don't get paid. So you can work a deal for a month or two and until that deal closes you do not get paid. That's why 87% quit in that first year because it's not your normal 9-5 job. This job is not really a job, it's a business and you're the owner of that business so if you’re not able to leverage your finances and/or close deals in your first year of real estate, it's going to be tough. Not that it's impossible, but it's going to be tough and challenging so I want to give you a perspective of what it's like to be in your first year.

So those are stats, $42,000 a year average salary of a real estate agent like I said before, you see the folks on TV but in reality there are agents out there that are making six figure and seven figure salaries that I know personally so it can be done. If you surround yourself with the right people and see what they're doing, you can definitely make six figures as well. If you can stay consistent and be patient you can definitely be successful.

So if you're really interested in coming to this business and you think you have what it takes, hit me up in the comment section below and let's talk about it.
